SEQUENCE46 is a CAP-certified genetic testing laboratory founded by experts in fertility, embryology, and genetics, who are committed to offering comprehensive patient care using the latest science and best-in-class technology.
We’re passionate about reproductive genetics and aim to improve IVF outcomes and help families have healthy babies through our preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) offerings. Our staff are highly experienced and dedicated to providing timely and accurate genetic testing results to assist patients in their IVF journey. By partnering with some of the leading fertility centers in North America as well as Thermo Fisher Scientific, we’re dedicated to being leaders in innovation and research within the fertility space.
Meet The Team
Catherine Welch, MBA, TS(ABB)
Catherine founded Sequence46 and serves as Managing Director. She’s an accomplished clinical embryologist with nearly 20 years of experience and has consulted for clinics in the areas of laboratory management, inspection preparation, and new lab design/development. She has specialized in reproductive genetics over the past 10+ years and recently built up her own fertility collective in order to continue to grow into areas of the field needing support. Catherine lives in Southern California with her husband and four children.
Jason Nefalar
Jason serves as a General Supervisor, Safety and Training Officer at Sequence46. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from UCLA and has 6+ years of experience as a PGT laboratory technician. Jason developed an interest for clinical laboratory work while participating in several research projects at his local community college in Oxnard, CA and at Cedar Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. His hobbies include hiking, backpacking, mountaineering, climbing, reading, and writing.
Scott Collins
Scott is Sequence46's Sales Account Manager in the Midwest. He has spent the last 18 years in medical sales and the past 12 years working in various sales roles supporting PGT testing, equipment, and consumables in the IVF field. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin Madison in Kinesiology and Health Education. Scott lives in the Chicago suburbs with his wife and three kids. He enjoys attending Chicago sporting events, road biking, and traveling with his family.
Sophia Tormasi, TS(ABB)
Sophia co-founded Sequence46 and serves as the Director of Laboratory Operations. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Rutgers University and is a certified Technical Supervisor in Molecular Diagnostics. She previously worked at Reprogenetics (now CooperGenomics) and has over 15 years of experience in PGT. Sophia has co-authored numerous abstracts and publications on a variety of topics within the field. She lives in L.A. with her son and pomskies, Luna & Bella. She’s a foodie and enjoys exercise, hiking, and going to dog beaches.
Alice Garcia
Alice services as a Laboratory Assistant at Sequence46. She obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from California State University, Long Beach in 2022. Alice has always been fascinated by the field of genetics and is enjoying further exploring that interest at Sequence46. She currently lives in Inglewood and her hobbies include listening to podcasts, film photography, and thrift shopping.
Alexis Robles
Alexis serves as a Laboratory Technician at Sequence46. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from UCLA in 2022. His prior work experience at UCLA’s Department of Neurosurgery led him to develop an interest in healthcare and he’s glad to be able to apply those skills at Sequence46. Alexis was born and raised in Los Angeles and his hobbies include going to the beach, traveling, and hitting the range at the golf course.
Sally Rodriguez, ScM, CGC
Sally is a licensed, board-certified genetic counselor who serves as Sequence46's Director of Laboratory Genetic Services. She received her Bachelor's in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and her Master's in Genetic Counseling from The Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. With >10 years of experience in the field, she's passionate about reproductive genetics and fertility and has given numerous presentations at professional meetings on related topics. Sally lives in the NYC area with her husband, daughter, and fur-baby Khaleesi. She enjoys traveling, reading, and lazy days at the beach.
